1. Get help when you need it\n

When building a company, it is important to realize that you cannot handle everything yourself. It\u2019s impossible to be an expert in each department and it\u2019s alright to get help. Despite his notorious outbursts,\u00a0Steve Jobs\u00a0was seen to get advice from the people who worked from him on a regular basis. He led his employees well and gave them opportunities to create, rather than forced them to be his personal puppet. If you want your company to succeed, you need to remember that it\u2019s not a one-man show.\n

2. Market your product\n

William Hall, a former employee at Apple, remembered Steve saying \u201cHow can we sell a product if nobody knows about it?\u201d. This is a lesser-known fact, but Apple was not always adept in the art of marketing. Before they became the revolution they are today, they were a relatively quiet startup most people had never heard of. Steve was known for transforming the company\u2019s ability to market itself. It goes without saying: no one is going to want your product if they don\u2019t know it exists.\n

3. Redefine your field\n

If Apple is known for anything, it\u2019s that they revolutionised the tech industry. 2007 saw the shift in the world of mobile phones forever. One of Steve\u2019s most well-known quotes was \u201cAn iPod, a phone, and an Internet communicator. Are you getting it? These are not three separate devices. This is one device.\u201d Apple redefined what a mobile phone could do and thus changed the entire industry. 4. Look beyond resumes\n

Apple is known to look beyond just the resume when hiring employees. Steve was known to value things like personalities, interests and personal accomplishments. He valued people who were creative, well-rounded and skillful in problem solving. It mattered to him that he got along easily with those he worked with. When hiring for your own company, realise that you\u2019re going to have to like the people you work with everyday. When the target is to reach a mutual goal, things like MBAs, ivy leagues or high GPAs don\u2019t factor into the equation. 5. Value time\n

Steve once said: \u201cRemembering that I\u2019ll be dead soon is the most important tool I\u2019ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything \u2014 all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure \u2013 these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.\u201d Your time is valuable and what you make of it will define its true worth. \u201cYour time is limited,\u201d Steve said. \u201cDon\u2019t waste it living someone else\u2019s life.
